Pussymon 8
You ever get that feeling when you boot up something on Newgrounds and immediately the interface screams 2008 Flash but it's actually a 2023 browser RPG and you're like, yeah, this is it. That's the whole vibe here. The battle menu looks like it was assembled from spare parts and I mean that as the highest compliment. It's got that unpolished, slightly janky energy where you can practically see the solo dev staying up late with a coffee pot and a dream. My kind of Christmas spirit.
Right so the premise is already unhinged, you're catching these creatures called Pussymon. Not even subtle. You got a quest log, an overworld map that's basically a series of connected screens, and random encounters. But then you hit a battle and suddenly the dev added elemental properties to the combat system this update. Fire beats grass type nonsense but with a straight face. Why is there a strategic layer in my porn game. I found myself actually swapping party members for type advantage against a boss. A Crude. That's what they call the enemies, Crudes. It's beautiful. Some of the animations during battle feel like placeholder sprites that never got replaced and I love that. Ten new sexcards got added, fully animated, and they're tucked behind progression gates so you're actually playing the RPG to see the furry Christmas hentai. That's a sentence I just wrote.
The two new easter egg side stories are where things get properly weird. You unlock one and then it loops so you can rewatch the steps. I spent way too long trying to figure out if I missed a trigger in the third area, the snowy village. There's this one NPC near a tree, don't talk to him, it's a waste of time, I think. Actually maybe do, I don't know, my save file got weird after that. The whole thing has nine new areas and the map just keeps sprawling out like the dev can't stop adding corridors. At one point I realized I was genuinely invested in the main storyline and had to take a break. What is happening. The Patreon link at the end of the game is the most honest thing I've ever seen, just "hey if you want cheats go here." Fair enough. The music loops are way too short and I think I heard the same jingle for two hours. Didn't care. Was too busy checking elemental charts for my next Pussymon catch.

Pussymon 28
The Red Rider shows up and I immediately think of that one Digimon movie, the third one, with the weird digital horse. Not important. What sticks with me after closing the browser is how the rougelike elements just sort of happen to you. You're walking through these outskirts areas, grass patches that feel lifted from a Gameboy cartridge but wrong somehow, and then a battle starts. No transition. Just fur and pixelated lust.
The new side quest had me chasing Brimirny for what felt like forever. Not complaining. The animations, all seventeen of them, have this janky quality that I can't decide is intentional or not. Like when a Pussymon uses a special move and the screen freezes for half a second before the explicit scene plays out. It's the kind of thing that would make me rage quit a normal game but here it adds to the whole bootleg energy. The cheat manager in the special edition, by the way, completely breaks the progression curve. I turned it on for five minutes and suddenly had access to a legendary scene that I'm pretty sure was meant for episode 29. No idea what Hydragodon is but I saw things.
The humor lands somewhere between intentional parody and genuine outsider art. One of the new huntable creatures has a move set that's just three variations of the same thrusting animation with different particle effects. I laughed. Then I kept playing. The story, what little I followed between encounters, introduces characters who will apparently matter later. The Red Rider has dialogue that reads like it was translated through three languages and back. I kind of love it. The furry tag is doing heavy lifting here, some designs are genuinely creative while others look like someone discovered the smudge tool in Photoshop and never looked back. Four side quests and six main ones, though I lost count after the third because the quest log is buried in a menu I kept forgetting existed. The boss fight at the end of the new area triggered twice for me, a bug that I should probably report but honestly getting the scene twice wasn't the worst thing.

You know that feeling when you find a hentai manga from 2004 and the art is kinda jank but the artist is so damn enthusiastic about every single panel? That's Pussymon episode 26. I loaded it up on my shitty laptop while my cat was judging me from the desk, and honestly the first thing I thought was "this looks like someone's DeviantArt gallery from high school." But then I kept clicking.
The Lizardish interaction caught me off guard. There's this moment where the dialogue goes from zero to "wait, she's actually into this?" and the animation kicks in. 26 new animations they say, and I believe it because some of these furry designs have more frames than my attention span. The big tits physics are absolutely ridiculous, like someone who only learned about gravity from anime, but that's exactly what I'm here for. The Hydragodon cave area has this one scene where I genuinely laughed out loud, not because it was funny but because the sheer audacity of the camera angle.
I wish the quest tracking was less of a mess. Spent fifteen minutes wandering the Lost village trying to figure out which NPC I was supposed to bang next. The cheat manager in the Special Edition helps but I shouldn't need it. Also Claire's side quest just... ends? Like the writer forgot what they were doing and moved on to Emily's content. Which, fine, Emily's stuff is better anyway.
The RPG elements are there I guess. You walk around, you find pussymon, you do the thing. Over 250 dialogs and half of them are probably variations of "oh no don't touch me there" followed immediately by "actually yes touch me there." Classic. The legendary pussymon bonus scene is locked behind the Patreon paywall which, yeah, of course it is. What did I expect? The whole thing feels like someone's horny D&D campaign and I'm not mad about it.

Bridget's training arc is something else, isn't it? Ten days alone with her and you start noticing things. The way the new rest option in your bag means you can basically crash anywhere now, no need to trek back to a center. Just pop that sleep function right in the middle of a hunt area. Lazy? Maybe. But it lets you cycle the day/night stuff faster to trigger that specific easter egg with Lizardish and Lepllanny. The tip says to check their training before bed after Bridget's solo sessions. Unlocked it once and now it's a daily ritual. The animation is... dedicated. Two options for it, which is a nice touch. One of them involves a tail in a way that made me genuinely laugh out loud, then immediately feel like a degenerate. The furry tag is doing some heavy lifting here, and I'm not complaining.
Caught a new Pussymon called something like Glimmerfin? No wait, that's not right. The water one in the third hunt area. Its capture animation glitched for a second, froze on a frame that was honestly hotter than the intended loop. Happy accident. The Pussymon Hunter Society areas feel a bit empty though. Five of them and only a couple have actual shops that matter. The work places are just stat checks, grind your money, whatever. Spent way too long in the first shop just cycling the dialogue because the shopkeeper's sprite has this little bounce. Priorities, right?
The whole thing is held together with duct tape and horny energy. Eight new monsters but only nine new animations total? That math doesn't math. Unless the easter egg counts as two, which it does. So really it's seven spread across ten catchable creatures. Some of them just have a static image and a text box describing what happens. In an RPG about catching them all, that's a choice. But then you find the hidden interaction in the swamp area and suddenly you're not thinking about missing frames anymore. The humor lands more often than it misses, especially when the dialogue breaks the fourth wall about the game's own jank.

The elemental chart rework is actually insane. Nine types now, and I spent way too long just staring at the bag interface trying to memorize the new matchups. Fire beats... something. I keep getting it wrong. The old chart was simpler but this one makes battles feel less like rock paper scissors and more like actual strategy, especially with the new level and rank systems stacked on top.
Three levels and three ranks per Pussymon means the same creature you caught in area one can show up again later as a completely different beast. I found a low rank Flufftail early on and thought it was useless, then stumbled on a max rank one in one of the ten new areas and it nearly wiped my whole team. The hunt system makes backtracking actually worth it. You can name them now too, which is a small thing but calling my main fighter "Bastard" instead of its species name adds something.
The battle interface got a facelift and the fights are definitely harder. Potions work in and out of combat now, three types, and the "back to base" skill you get at level two saves so much walking. The save anywhere feature from the bag menu is a godsend because I kept losing progress before. Eleven new animations including an easter egg I haven't found yet, and apparently once you find it you can replay it whenever. The story moved forward a bit but honestly I was too busy catching the ten new Pussymon to pay attention. Sixty six total now and I still can't pick a favorite.
The rank system sometimes feels like it makes catching low level ones pointless unless you just want the animation. Which, fair. The animations are why we're here. Some of the new ones are... detailed. Very detailed. The easter egg hunt is driving me crazy though, I've clicked on everything in every new area and nothing. Maybe it's tied to a specific Pussymon interaction I haven't triggered yet. The Patreon probably has the answer but I'm stubborn.
