The principal's office door doesn't even have a lock that works properly. Clicked it shut and the whole frame rattled, cheap wood splitting at the hinge. Mrs. Richards was already leaning against her desk, that tight pencil skirt riding up just from breathing basically. You know the type. Every high school movie ever promised us this fantasy and somehow it never gets old.

Game runs on this weird hybrid engine where the dialogue choices actually branch into completely different scenes instead of just flavor text. Picked the option to hide in her closet like a total creep and ended up filming through the slats while she took a phone call about budget meetings. The compression artifacts on the sex tape segments are intentional I think? Grainy footage aesthetic works for the voyeur stuff but then the torture sequences switch to this hyper clean render that makes the undress animations look almost clinical. Weird contrast. Not complaining exactly, just noticing things.

Soundtrack is just one looped jazz track that cuts out abruptly whenever you trigger a new scene. No fade, no transition, just silence then moaning. Actually made me laugh the third time it happened. The voice acting for Mrs. Richards goes way harder than it needs to, she's doing this breathy MILF thing that keeps cracking into her normal register when she says words like "detention" or "curriculum." Jonathan's lines are whatever, standard protagonist mumbling. There's this one moment where you can blackmail a teacher using footage from the gym storage room and the dialogue wheel gives you options that range from mildly coercive to genuinely unhinged. The student characteristics system tracks your choices but I couldn't tell if it was affecting anything besides which ending card you get. Spent twenty minutes trying to trigger a specific scene with the biology teacher only to realize I'd locked myself out by being too aggressive with the principal earlier. Classic.

The thing about OneHandGames is they don't pretend. You load up A Schoolboy Crush and right away the font is wrong, the buttons are slightly misaligned, and the blonde girl's sprite has this weird floating quality like she's not quite standing on the floor. It's perfect. This is the third one, after Hot Summer Nights and A Schoolgirl Fantasy, and you can tell the creator just kept building on the same rickety framework because why fix what's already charmingly broken.

I spent twenty minutes stuck on a dialogue loop with the math teacher because I kept picking the obviously wrong answer just to see her get flustered. The writing has this deadpan delivery that makes the explicit scenes hit different. Not polished. Not trying to be sexy in that overproduced way. Just... direct. There's a scene with the blonde classmate behind the gym that uses maybe three animation frames total and somehow it's more engaging than games with full motion capture. The RPG elements are barely there. You walk around the high school, talk to people, unlock scenes. That's it. The achievement tracking is weirdly satisfying though. Each scene unlock feels like finding a crumpled note in a locker.

The sound design is basically nonexistent except for this one looping track that I swear is just a slowed down version of something from an old Newgrounds flash game. After a while it becomes hypnotic. Or maybe that's just what happens when you're clicking through dialogue about after school tutoring that very clearly isn't about tutoring. The game knows what it is. It doesn't try to be deep or meaningful or even particularly well made. There's a charm in that. A kind of honesty. The blonde character's storyline in particular has this weirdly sweet undertone beneath all the explicit content, like the writer accidentally wrote a romance while trying to write porn. Or maybe I'm reading too much into a game where you can literally just replay scenes from a menu once you've unlocked them. The menu is ugly by the way. I love it.

So Offcuts is this visual novel, right, and I went in expecting the usual high school romance stuff because of the tags, like school uniform and all that. It's a 3DCG game, which I'm usually a bit eh about, but the models here have this kind of... deliberate stiffness? Not like bad animation, more like everyone's slightly uncomfortable and that somehow makes the erotic bits hit different. The first blowjob scene I got, the character's expression was so blank it looped back to being hot. Like she's doing it because the script says so, not because anyone's having fun, and that vibe just... works for me. The male protagonist is a blank slate but honestly who cares.

The anal scene though. Unlocked it by complete accident, was trying to just be nice to this one character from the old acquaintance group, the one the description mentions who might want to break your legs. Kept picking the dialogue options that seemed safest, and then suddenly she's got me against the lockers and... well. The game's logic feels like it's held together with old gum. Sometimes choices matter, sometimes they don't, and I swear the game forgot I was romancing the new girl halfway through and just switched tracks. The mobile game tag makes sense, it runs fine on my phone, I played most of it while waiting for the bus, and let me tell you trying to tap through a surprise anal scene in public is an experience. The UI buttons are tiny though, misclicked and skipped a whole lewd sequence once.

Wish the school setting was used more, it's mostly just backdrops. There's this one hallway render they reuse so much I started noticing the same crack in the wall tile. But then the next scene started and I forgot about it because the writing actually got good for a second, before going back to being... there. The romance paths feel thin but maybe that's the point, the "some people you can't get rid off" part is definitely the sharpest writing, even though the spelling error in the game's own description tells you what to expect.
