i keep clicking through dialogue thinking maybe this time the pixel catgirl will stop looking at me like i owe her money. she doesn't. the new episode dropped and i'm already lost in some forest with three characters i barely remember from episode 34 because i binged that one at 4am and my brain was soup. there's this one pussymon that's basically just a floating orb with cat ears and i spent way too long trying to figure out if it was a bug or a feature. it's a feature. i think.

the animations this time around are... look, they're not winning any awards for smoothness but there's something about the jank that works. like when a song is slightly off beat but it makes you feel something anyway. 16 new ones and half of them involve scenarios that made me double check if my door was locked. the furry tag is doing heavy lifting here but honestly if you're playing something called pussymon you already knew what you signed up for. there's a side quest with a scene that caught me off guard, not because of the content but because the writing suddenly got weirdly sincere for like three lines before going back to "and then they fucked."

the new mysterious foe reveal is... there. i won't spoil it but i will say i laughed at a moment that probably wasn't supposed to be funny. over 200 lines of text and somehow the most memorable one was a throwaway joke about berries. the cheat manager is locked behind the special edition which, sure, whatever, but i kept trying to find exploits anyway like it's 2006 and i'm breaking pokemon red with missingno. didn't work. the legendary pussymon bonus scene is apparently in there too but i'm not paying for it so i'll just imagine what it looks like based on the silhouette. probably another orb with ears.

the female companions are getting more scenes now which is nice because bridget has been standing in the background of my party for three episodes looking like she had something to say. she finally does. it's mostly moaning. dash is still my favorite even though her dialogue tree is basically "yes" "yes but enthusiastic" and "yes with extra steps." val exists. i keep forgetting val exists until she shows up and i'm like oh right, val. the quest structure is seven main missions that feel like five because two of them blend together in a cave that all looks the same. i got turned around for twenty minutes and found a pussymon i wasn't even looking for. neat.
