Ava’s laugh sounds like a bell ringing but somehow it makes you feel smaller, not brighter. That’s the whole thing right there. Married to a woman who can turn a compliment into a leash and you’re thanking her for the collar. The game opens on that exact dynamic, no setup montage, just straight into the domestic push and pull where she’s already won every round before you knew you were playing. Then Alison shows up. Half sister, full demon, the kind of smile that makes your spine tingle in ways that aren’t entirely fear. Caught her draining some guy in an alley and instead of doing the sane thing my character just... negotiated. Classic.
What follows is this weird telepathic three way where Alison whispers corruption into Ava’s ear while I’m stuck watching my wife transform into something I thought I wanted. The hotwife kink here isn’t the porny jump cut version, it’s stretched out over dozens of conversations where Ava’s teasing goes from affectionate to surgical. There’s a scene where she describes exactly what she’d do with another man while maintaining eye contact and I had to actually put my phone down. Not because it was too much but because the writing nailed that specific dread arousal mix where you’re not sure if you’re the protagonist or the prey.
The succubus angle could’ve been cheesy but it’s played almost like office politics with supernatural stakes. Alison doesn’t just seduce, she audits. She’s genuinely curious about why my character’s... output... registers as premium grade on whatever cosmic scale she’s using. That detail alone made me laugh then immediately feel weird about laughing. The art’s that ren’py default style where everyone looks slightly plastic but the expressions carry weight, especially Ava’s gradual shift from bubbly to predatory. Wish the sound design existed beyond three looping tracks but whatever, I’m here for the psychological unraveling not the foley work. The slow burn is actual slow burn too, not just three conversations then bam everyone’s naked. Took forever to get to the first real payoff and honestly I’m still not sure if I’m being played by the narrative itself. Which tracks.
