I went into Mandatory Mentor expecting, I dunno, a typical trainer game. You know the drill. What I got was this weirdly specific mix of humiliation and pet play that somehow works because the setup is so absurd. You're stuck on a tropical island with Reina, this absolute brat who needs to pass the Tokyo University exam or you both rot there forever eating coconuts. The premise alone made me laugh, but then the domination mechanics kick in and things get... creative.

The spanking scenes are animated pretty well for a 3DCG game, not gonna lie. Reina's reactions actually shift depending on how you've been treating her, which surprised me. One run I went full strict mentor with the sex toys as "motivational tools" and she ended up this broken little pet by day four. Another run I tried being nicer and she just walked all over me. The multiple endings thing is real, though I wish the "good" ending didn't feel so rushed compared to the bad ones. Also the brunette hair physics glitch out sometimes during the more intense domination scenes, just flapping around like it's underwater. Distracting.

What I didn't expect was how the simulator aspects would mess with my head. You're literally planning study schedules while also deciding whether to use the paddle or the vibrator as punishment. The humor lands in weird places too, like when Reina fails a practice test and the game gives you this deadpan "coconut collector" career update. I forgot what I was talking about. Oh right, the pet play elements. They're not just slapped on, the collar and leash stuff actually ties into the obedience tracking system. Though honestly the game sometimes forgets it's supposed to be a trainer and just becomes pure humiliation fantasy, which I'm not complaining about but it's worth knowing. The male protagonist is basically a blank slate, which works for projection but makes some scenes feel disconnected. Still, watching Reina go from spoiled rich girl to desperate mess over seven in-game days hit something primal I didn't know I needed.
