This is like, the definition of a mixed bag. I was clicking through AlwaysFan last night, right, and the first thing that hits you is Emilie. Pale skin, albino, big sad eyes, the whole childhood friend deal. You know the trope. And the game just drops you into this grimdark world where crime is everywhere and you're supposed to protect her, or not, depending on how much of a bastard you wanna be. The choice system is there, sure, but it feels like one of those mobile games where you tap a dialogue option and just hope the translation didn't butcher what you actually meant. Half the time I picked something thinking it was flirty and the character looked at me like I'd just kicked a puppy.
But here's the thing. The hentai scenes. Holy shit. There's this one cosplay scene, I won't spoil who she's dressed as, but if you're into those big titty Genshin or Bayonetta parody vibes, the artist *understood the assignment*. The lactation stuff comes out of nowhere though, like a jumpscare but with milk. I was not prepared. The groping and group stuff gets wild, and there's a whole prostitution path that feels like it was written by someone who just discovered the concept of a "criminal" tag and ran with it. The gallery mode is the only reason to replay, just to see the CGs without having to deal with the plot that takes itself way too seriously. I got stuck on one choice for like ten minutes because the consequence wasn't clear at all. It's a visual novel, not a puzzle game, why is this so cryptic.
The best part is definitely when you lean into being a total scumbag. There's a moment with a side character, some blonde, where the power dynamic shifts completely and you just... take. No romance, no build up, just raw transactional filth. And then the next scene is all soft and romantic with Emilie again, like the game forgot what it just let you do. The tonal whiplash is insane but I kind of live for it. Honestly, if you're here for the parody outfits and the specific kinks, you'll put up with the jank. Just don't expect the story to make sense.
