Ann's math test is face down on the desk and I already know she failed because the red marks are bleeding through the paper. That's the first thing you see. Not some epic quest or whatever. Just a girl who can't do fractions and a teacher who probably gave up on her months ago. The delinquent girls corner her later near the lockers and I swear my stomach actually dropped. I've played enough of these games to know where this is going but something about the way they crowd her against the metal doors felt too real. Like I was back in ninth grade watching the mean girls circle someone and pretending I didn't see.

The cake scene. I need to talk about the cake scene. It's this stupid bake sale thing in the home ec room and Ann's supposed to bring something but she forgets because of course she does. One of the mammas characters, I think her name was Rosa, she's got this whole tray of cupcakes and the way she offers one to Ann is just... I don't know. The frosting is pink. That's not important. What's important is how the game makes you click through this really long dialogue where nothing sexual even happens yet but you're just waiting. And the waiting is somehow better than the payoff. My first NSFW game was some flash thing on Newgrounds where you just clicked boobs and moved on. This is different. This makes you sit in the tension.

The soundtrack is just a loop of something that sounds like a music box falling down stairs. I left it on for way too long and now it's stuck in my head like a splinter. The quest structure is basically just clicking through conversations but sometimes you get to choose between being scared or being brave and both options lead to Ann getting humiliated anyway. There's this one part where she hides in the bathroom stall and you can hear the delinquent girls laughing outside and I realized I was holding my breath. For a game that looks like someone drew it on notebook paper during detention, it got under my skin. The story doesn't resolve. It just sort of stops. Like the dev got bored or ran out of pages. I keep checking the tumblr for updates even though I know there won't be any.
