You know what I love about fanfic? When someone takes a character like Paul McClain, this "promising young detective" who apparently can't solve a case without checking every woman's ass in Springfield, and just runs with it. The canon ending would probably be some boring reunion with the rich landowner. This game though. It's like someone wrote a parody of a detective story and forgot to include the detective part.

The birthmark mechanic is what gets me. You're supposed to find this missing daughter by, well, examining the evidence. And the evidence is always on someone's butt. Every single woman in this town might be the heiress and Paul's investigative technique involves getting them naked through these weird quest chains. There's one where you help a woman find her cat and somehow that leads to her undressing. The logic is... I mean there isn't any. It's like playing a Phoenix Wright game if Phoenix solved every case by asking witnesses to strip.

The humor lands sometimes accidentally. Paul's deadpan expression while these increasingly absurd situations unfold around him. A landowner from England who sends a detective to America to find his daughter based on a birthmark location he apparently knows about. Nobody questions this. The tortue tag is there but it's more like the game tortues your patience with fetch quests that make no sense. Go get three items, now she'll show you her ass. Rinse and repeat.

I wish the investigation parts were actually, you know, investigation. Instead of just clicking through dialog until the clothes come off. But that's probably the point. It's not pretending to be anything other than what it is. The summoners quest tag confuses me though. Maybe I missed something. Maybe that's for the sequel where Paul summons demons to help him look at more butts. Wouldn't put it past this game.
