I was digging through my old gif folders, you know the ones with the really specific names, and found a bunch from this game Contact. The grandma's store thing. Look, the art is rough, like someone drew it on a napkin and scanned it in, but that's almost the point. It's got this weird charm where the janky lines make the good parts hit harder. There's this one scene with the childhood friend, Lisa I think, behind the counter. Her shirt is just... physics don't work that way. I saved like twelve frames of that alone.

The whole setup is you're Mike, stuck at granny's for summer. She's losing her marbles a bit so you run the shop. Boring, right? But then you start meeting her old friends. And their daughters. The quest system is basically just clicking on people until clothes fall off. I spent way too long trying to unlock a scene with the neighbor lady, Mrs. Patterson, only to find out her route was bugged. Or maybe I missed a flag. The game doesn't tell you shit. You just have to keep buying weird items from your own store inventory and hoping they trigger something. I wish the grandma had more content, honestly. She's just there, being old, while you're in the next room doing unspeakable things to her book club.

There's this one moment where you give a "special massage oil" to the tomboy girl who delivers newspapers. The animation is like three frames looping but the sound effect is so wet and over the top I laughed and then immediately saved it. The whole thing feels like finding a dirty magazine in a treehouse. It's not polished, it's not deep, but it knows exactly what you're here for. The shop mechanic is just a menu you ignore after the first hour. You're really just grinding affection points to see the next CG. Some of the teen characters look a little too young in the face which is creepy but then the body proportions are so absurdly adult it creates this uncanny valley effect. I don't know. I kept clicking.
