Holy Shaft is what happens when someone plays too much BlazBlue Centralfiction, gets really into the idea of "elevator action," and then decides the elevator should be a cosmic punishment device. The whole thing is this weird isekai setup where you're stuck in a vertical shaft, and every floor is a new humiliation. It's not a visual novel exactly, more like a very horny "Would You Rather" with a spanking fetish and a 3DCG budget that looks like it was rendered on a phone from 2018. The animations are stiff in a way that's almost charming, like watching posable action figures get into trouble.
The sound design is... a choice. There's this one looping track that I swear is just a royalty free beat slowed down to sound "mysterious," and it drills into your skull after the third floor. But the voice acting, oh my god. The main girl's voice is so aggressively high pitched it makes my teeth hurt, but then she does this little gasp when you pick the wrong option and I hate that it works on me. The spanking sounds are way too loud, like someone slapping a wet textbook, and I wish they'd mixed it lower but they never will. There's a floor with a magical dildo that vibrates with the intensity of a malfunctioning phone app, and the sound effect is literally just a stock buzzing noise. I spent way too long on that floor just clicking back and forth to hear it again.
The multiple endings thing is a lie, sort of. You get different text boxes, but the humiliation always circles back to the same core loop. Floor 7 has this scene where you have to choose between two levers, and one drops a paddle from the ceiling. I picked the wrong one on purpose like five times. The game doesn't care about your dignity. It just wants to see you squirm, and honestly? Same. The simulator tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, it's more of a "click and pray" situation. I do wish the toy models had more variety, but complaining about that feels like asking for a gourmet meal at a gas station.
