the sound design in chronicles of ella is doing this thing where the jungle ambience loops in this really obvious way, like every 47 seconds there's this specific bird call that cuts off mid chirp and it's driving me absolutely insane. i can't stop noticing it. the rest of the audio is this lo-fi synth drone that doesn't match the jungle setting at all but somehow it works, gives everything this weird dreamlike quality like you're watching a corrupted vhs tape of someone's fever dream.
ella's got this futa thing going on and the game does not shy away from it at all, which i appreciate. the first monster girl encounter had me genuinely unsure what dialogue options would lead where, and i ended up in this extended groping scene with the slime girl where the teasing just keeps going and going until you're almost uncomfortable but in that good way. the voyeurism angle comes in when you're hiding in the bushes watching the two monster girls interact before making your move, and there's this one moment where the cat girl catches you watching and instead of getting mad she just... performs. the big tits physics are kind of ridiculous honestly, they move like water balloons in zero gravity and i laughed out loud during what was supposed to be an intense oral scene. but then the lesbian tension between the monster girls themselves is actually handled with more care than i expected, like the writer actually gave a shit about their dynamic beyond just setup for the player's involvement.
the adventure framework is basically just moving between scenes with very light puzzle elements, nothing that'll tax your brain, and the mobile game tag makes sense because the whole thing plays like it was designed for one handed portrait mode doomscrolling sessions. i spent way too long on the dialogue tree where ella tries to convince the wolf girl she's not a threat, the writing in that specific section has this weirdly natural rhythm that the rest of the game doesn't quite match. the 2dcg art shifts quality between scenes in a way that suggests different artists or maybe just different deadlines, but the monster girl designs themselves are creative enough that i kept clicking forward just to see what came next. the big ass on the plant girl character is genuinely impressive from an anatomical impossibility standpoint.
